And His statement: تَنْزِيلُ الكتاب لا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ("The sending down of the Book about which there is no doubt") (32:2). The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: the sending down of the Book that was sent down upon Muhammad ﷺ, about which there is no doubt. من ربّ العالمين ("from the Lord of the worlds") — He says: from the Lord of the two kinds of burdened ones (al-thaqalān): the jinn and mankind.
As Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His statement: الم * تَنْزِيلُ الْكِتَابِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ("Alif Lām Mīm. The sending down of the Book about which there is no doubt"): no doubt about it. And the meaning of the statement is only this: that about this Qurʾān which was sent down upon Muhammad there is no doubt that it comes from Allah, and it is neither poetry, nor the rhymed prose of a soothsayer, nor is it something that Muhammad ﷺ invented. And Allah, praised be His praise, only thereby declared to be a lie the statement of those who said: وَقَالُوا أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ اكْتَتَبَهَا فَهِيَ تُمْلَى عَلَيْهِ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلا ("And they said: 'Fables of the ancients which he has had written down, and which are dictated to him morning and evening'"), and the statement of those who said: إِنْ هَذَا إِلا إِفْكٌ افْتَرَاهُ وَأَعَانَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَوْمٌ آخَرُونَ ("This is nothing but a falsehood that he has invented, and another people have helped him with it").
