The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: En zij zeiden: Waarom zijn er geen tekenen tot hem neergezonden van zijn Heer? Zeg: De tekenen zijn slechts bij Allah, en ik ben slechts een duidelijke waarschuwer (50).
The Exalted, whose remembrance is sublime, says: and the polytheists (mushrikīn) of the Quraysh said: why has no sign been sent down to Muḥammad from his Lord, which would be a proof from Allah against us, just as the she-camel was made a sign for Ṣāliḥ, and the laid table a sign for ʿĪsā? Say, O Muḥammad: the signs are only with Allah; none other than He is able to bring them. En ik ben slechts een duidelijke waarschuwer — and I am to you only a warner; I warn you of the power of Allah and His punishment for your disbelief in His Messenger and in what he has brought you from your Lord. Duidelijk — he says: he has made his warning clear to you.
