The explanation of His statement, the Exalted: وَلَا يَصُدُّنَّكَ عَنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أُنزِلَتْ إِلَيْكَ وَادْعُ إِلَى رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ("And let them not turn you away from the signs of Allah after they have been sent down to you; and call to your Lord, and do not be among the polytheists") (28:87).
The Exalted, whose praise is mentioned, says: and let them not turn you away from conveying the signs of Allah and His proofs, after your Lord has sent them down to you, O Muḥammad — that is, those polytheists (mushrikīn), with their saying: لَوْلَا أُوتِيَ مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَى ("If only there had been given to him the like of what was given to Mūsā"). And call to your Lord, and convey His message to those to whom He has sent you with it. وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ("And do not be among the polytheists"), He says: and do not abandon calling to your Lord and conveying His message to the polytheists, lest you be among those who commit the deed of the polytheists through disobedience to his Lord and through opposition to His command.
