Tabari (1 passage)

  1. Full Dutch translation of Tabari's text

Allah the Exalted says, while informing His creation about His word to Mūsā: إِنَّهُ أَنَا اللَّهُ الْعَزِيزُ — "Verily, I am Allah, the Almighty" — in His retribution against His enemies — الْحَكِيمُ — "the All-Wise" — in His disposal over His creation. The hāʾ in His word إِنَّهُ is a supporting hāʾ (hāʾ ʿimād), and it is a noun that is not pronounced, according to the opinion of some of the linguists. Some of the grammarians of Kufa said: it is the unknown hāʾ (al-hāʾ al-majhūla), and its meaning is: the matter and the affair is: I am Allah.
