So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.

The Exalted, in His remembrance, says: thus the gatherers whom Pharaoh had sent out brought the magicians together لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ (for the appointed time of a known day) — He said: for the appointed time which Pharaoh had set with Moses to assemble, on a known day; and that was the day of the festival: وَأَنْ يُحْشَرَ النَّاسُ ضُحًى (and that the people be gathered together in the forenoon).
