ٱلَّذِى يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

    ﴿الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ﴾ — that is to say: He who sees you when you stand up for your prayer (ṣalāh).

    Mujāhid held a view concerning the explanation of this, which al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning the word ﴿الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ﴾: he said: wherever you may be.

    ﴿وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي السَّاجِدِينَ﴾ — the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) differed concerning the explanation of this. Some of them said: the meaning of this is: and He sees your movements in your prayer, when you stand, then bow, and when you prostrate.

    (الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ) يقول: الذي يراك حين تقوم إلى صلاتك. وكان مجاهد يقول في تأويل ذلك ما حدثنا القاسم, قال: ثنا الحسين, قال: ثني حجاج, عن ابن جُرَيج, عن مجاهد, قوله: (الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ) قال: أينما كنت.
