إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

    Allah, exalted be His praise, says: in Our punishment of the people of Shuʿayb with the punishment of the Day of al-ẓulla — on account of their denial of their prophet Shuʿayb — there is a sign for your people, O Muḥammad, and a lesson for whoever takes heed: namely, that Our way of dealing with them, when they deny you, is the same as Our way of dealing with the inhabitants of al-Ayka. وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ — in Our foreknowledge concerning them.

    يقول تعالى ذكره: إن في تعذيبنا قوم شعيب عذاب يوم الظلة, بتكذيبهم نبيهم شعيبا, لآية لقومك يا محمد, وعبرة لمن اعتبر, إن اعتبروا أن سنتنا فيهم بتكذيبهم إياك, سنتنا في أصحاب الأيكة.( وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ )في سابق علمنا فيهم .
