    Allah, exalted be His remembrance, says: Thamūd rejected the messengers of Allah, when their brother Sāliḥ called them to Allah and said to them: Do you then not fear the punishment of Allah, O my people, on account of your disobedience to Him and your defiance of His command, in that you obey the orders of those who spread corruption upon Allah's earth?

    يقول تعالى ذكره: كذّبت ثمود رسل الله, إذ دعاهم صالح أخوهم إلى الله, فقال لهم: ألا تتقون عقاب الله يا قوم على معصيتكم إياه, وخلافكم أمره, بطاعتكم أمر المفسدين في أرض الله.
