Allah — exalted be His praise — says: Say, O Muḥammad, to these slanderers concerning the Hour: Is this Fire — whose attributes and the attributes of its inhabitants your Lord has described to you — better? Or is the eternal Garden of delight, whose pleasure endures forever and does not perish — which He has promised to whoever fears Him in the world by obeying Him in what He commanded and forbade — better? His word: كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَاءً وَمَصِيرًا (it was for them a recompense and a destination) — He says: The eternal Garden of delight was for the God-fearing a recompense for their deeds before Allah in the world by obeying Him, and a reward for their fear of Him; and a destination for them — He says: and a destination for the God-fearing to which they will go in the Hereafter.
