أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُوا۟ رَسُولَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ

Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging?

    Concerning His words: أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُوا رَسُولَهُمْ (Or did they not recognize their Messenger?): Allah, exalted be His remembrance, says: Or have these deniers not recognized Muḥammad — that he is among the people of truthfulness and trustworthiness — so that they reject him? That is to say: that they reject his words, or that they claim not to know him. Allah, exalted be His majesty, says: How then can they deny him while they know him as a man of truthfulness and trustworthiness who lives in their midst?!

    وقوله: ( أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُوا رَسُولَهُمْ ) يقول تعالى ذكره: أم لم يعرف هؤلاء المكذّبون محمدًا، وأنه من أهل الصدق والأمانة فهم له منكرون، يقول: فينكروا قوله، أو لم يعرفوه بالصدق، ويحتجوا بأنهم لا يعرفونه. يقول جلّ ثناؤه: فكيف يكذّبونه وهم يعرفونه فيهم بالصدق والأمانة؟!
