فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولا مِنْهُمْ (And We sent among them a messenger from among themselves) — who called them — أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ (to worship Allah), O people, and to obey Him instead of the gods and idols; for worship is fitting for Him alone. مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُهُ (You have no god other than Him) — that is: you have no object of worship whose worship is fitting, other than Him. أَفَلا تَتَّقُونَن (Will you then not fear?) — do you not fear the punishment of Allah by worshipping something other than Him, while He is the One God and there is no god for you other than Him?
