This is part of the description of the makhbitīn (the humble ones). Allah the Exalted says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: give good tidings, O Muḥammad, to the makhbitīn — those whose hearts are humble at the remembrance of Allah, whose hearts bow before His awe, trembling at His punishment and fearful of His wrath.

As Yūnus related to me, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said: Ibn Zayd said, concerning the words الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ — he said: their hearts do not harden. وَالصَّابِرِينَ عَلَى مَا أَصَابَهُمْ — of trial in Allah's cause and of what befalls them of hardship in His service; وَالْمُقِيمِي الصَّلاَةِ — the obligatory prayer; وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ — of the possessions يُنْفِقُونَ — in what they are obliged to spend therein, in that which is incumbent upon them.
