They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?"

Allah, exalted is His praise, says: They brought Ibrāhīm. When they brought him they said to him: Did you do this to our gods — this breaking — O Ibrāhīm? Ibrāhīm answered them: No, the greatest of them did it, the foremost of them — so ask the gods, then, who did this to them and broke them, if they are able to speak or to express themselves.
And in the same manner as we have explained this, the people of interpretation spoke.
