Tabari (1 passage)

  1. Full Dutch translation of Tabari's text

Allah, exalted is His remembrance, says: Whenever Allah reveals to the people something new from this Qurʾān, reminding and admonishing them thereby, they listen to it while they are at play, with heedless hearts.

In a manner similar to how we have explained this verse, the exegetes of the Qurʾān spoke.

    Mention of who said that:

Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning the word of Allah (No new remembrance comes to them from their Lord)... to the end of the verse: he said: nothing of the Qurʾān is sent down to them but that they listen to it while they are at play.
