Tafseer of Taa-Haa · Taa-Haa · 20:86
So Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved. He said, "O my people, did your Lord not make you a good promise? Then, was the time [of its fulfillment] too long for you, or did you wish that wrath from your Lord descend upon you, so you broke your promise [of obedience] to me?"

The exposition of the interpretation of the word of Allah the Exalted: قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ السَّامِرِيُّ (verse 85)
Allah the Exalted says: Allah said to Mūsā: We have, O Mūsā, tested your people after you with the worship of the calf — and that was their trial after Mūsā.
By His words مِنْ بَعْدِكَ He means: after your departure from them. Allah the Blessed and Exalted says: وَأَضَلَّهُمُ السَّامِرِيُّ — and the misguidance into which the Sāmirī led them consisted in his calling them to the worship of the calf.
