That Day, no intercession will benefit except [that of] one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission and has accepted his word.

The statement concerning the explanation of the words of Allah the Exalted: يَوْمَئِذٍ لا تَنْفَعُ الشَّفَاعَةُ إِلا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَنُ وَرَضِيَ لَهُ قَوْلا ("On that Day intercession will not avail, except for the one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission and whose word He has approved") (20:109)
Allah the Exalted says: يَوْمَئِذٍ لا تَنْفَعُ الشَّفَاعَةُ إِلا the intercession of (the one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission) to make intercession, وَرَضِيَ لَهُ قَوْلا — and contained therein, in the word, is an indication of the attribution of the word (qawl) to the pronominal suffix that refers back to "man" (the one). This is like the expression of a speaker: I approved your action for you, and I approved it of you. The position of "man" in His words إِلا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ is the accusative (naṣb), because it forms the exception to the intercession (al-shafāʿa).
