(Thus does Allah make His signs clear to you, that you might understand) (2:242)
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: just as I have made clear to you what is obligatory upon you toward your wives and what your wives are obliged to render toward you, O believers, and just as I have made known to you My ordinances, as well as the right that one of you owes to the other, in these verses — so too do I make clear to you all the remaining ordinances in My signs which I have sent down upon My Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ in this Book, that you — O you who believe in Me and in My Messenger — might understand My prescribed limits (ḥudūd), and so that you might grasp that which is obligatory upon you of My imposed duties, and thereby come to know what contains the welfare of your religion and your worldly life, as well as of your present and your future, that you might act in accordance with it so that what is between you with one another may be set right, and that you might thereby attain the abundant reward from Me in your place of return.
