Allah the Exalted says: Whoever pursues the worldly life and works for it and desires it, without having conviction in a return, and without expecting any reward or punishment from his Lord for his deed — عَجَّلْنا لَهُ فِيها ما نَشاءُ لِمَنْ نُرِيدُ (We hasten for him therein what We will for whom We intend): that is, Allah hastens for him in the worldly life what He wills, whether by expanding the worldly life for him or by restricting it — for whomever Allah wills to do that with him, or by destroying him with a punishment according to His will. ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلاها (Then We appoint for him Hell (jahannam), which he enters): that is, then, upon his arrival in the Hereafter, We make him enter Hell. مَذْمُوما (disgraced): because of his scant gratitude toward Us and his evil conduct with respect to the blessings that We bestowed upon him in the worldly life. مَدْحُورًا (rejected): that is: cast out, driven away into the Fire.
In accordance with what we have said, the exegetes spoke.

He said: ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلاهَا مَذْمُومًا مَدْحُورًا (Then We appoint for him Hell, which he enters, disgraced, rejected): "disgraced in the favor of Allah, rejected in the wrath of Allah."
