[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Grand, the Exalted.

Abū Jaʿfar said: Allah, exalted be His mention, says: Allah is the Knower of what is hidden from you and what your eyes have not seen and you did not behold, and of what you have beheld and perceived with your eyes. Nothing is hidden from Him, for they are His creation and His governance. "The Great, above Whom all is small," "the Most High, Who exalts Himself above all things through His power."
"Al-Mutaʿāl" (the Most High) is the "tafāʿala" form of "al-ʿuluww" (loftiness), like "al-mutaqārib" from "al-qurb" (nearness) and "al-mutadānī" from "al-dunuww" (proximity).
