قَالُوا أَتَعْجَبِينَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ — Allah the Exalted here says: the messengers said to her: Do you marvel at a matter which Allah has commanded to be, and a decree which Allah has decided concerning you and your husband?
رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ — that is to say: the mercy of Allah and His blessings are upon you, the inhabitants of the house of Ibrāhīm. The definite article here takes the place of the case-marking of the construct's appended element (al-muḍāf).
إِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ — that is to say: Allah is praised in His generosity towards you, by reason of the favors He has bestowed upon you and upon the rest of creation. مَجِيدٌ — that is to say: possessor of eminence, praise, and noble glory.
In its verbal form one says: "majada l-rajulu yamjudu majādatan" — when he has become such; and when one means that one extols him, one says: "majjadtuhu tamjīdan".
