Tafseer of Jonas · Yunus · 10:17
So who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about Allah or denies His signs? Indeed, the criminals will not succeed

The explanation of the interpretation of the words of Allah the Exalted: فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِآيَاتِهِ إِنَّهُ لا يُفْلِحُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ (17)
Abū Jaʿfar said: Allah the Exalted says to His Prophet ﷺ: Say to these polytheists (mushrikīn) who have accused you of lying — on account of what you have brought them from your Lord: "Which creature is more extreme in its transgression, and more unworthy on account of putting its statement in the wrong place, than the one who has invented a lie about Allah and fabricated a falsehood against Him — or has denied His signs?" — by this He means His proofs, His messengers, and the signs of His Book. Allah the Exalted says to him: Say to them: "What you ascribe to me is no more astonishing than your lie about your Lord, your falsehood against Him, and your denial of His signs."
إِنَّهُ لا يُفْلِحُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ — that is to say: those who have committed disbelief (kufr) as a crime will not succeed on the Day of Resurrection when they meet their Lord, and they will not attain salvation (falāḥ).
